Auditions will consist of a range check and a 30-60 second song of your choice, sang acapella. If you can beatbox, please preapre a short demonstration.
If invited to participate in callbacks, they will take place in room 2400 from 7-9pm on September 10th.

Audition FAQ and Tips

What should I prepare?
A 60 second cut of a song that showcases your best personal sound- Pick a song that you like and feel confident singing!

When are auditions?
We only hold auditions once per academic year in the fall semester, so don't miss out! Audition dates for the 2026-2027 season have not yet been announced.

Do i need to be at auditions for the whole two hours?
You can arrive any time in our two hour audition window, but we recommend you arrive sooner rather than later! Once you audition, you're free to leave!

Do I have to re-audition to stay in the group?
Once you're a Hawkapella, even if you take a year abroad, you're always welcome back! So don't let your study abroad program keep you from auditioning.

What if I have class during the audition times?
We want to hear you! Write us an email as soon as possible and give us other times you're available, and we'll work something out to make sure you can audition

How many hours do the Hawkapellas rehearse a week?
We hold two rehearsals per week, two hours each. Expect a time commitment of at least 4 hours/week. During competition season, we may hold Sunday rehearsals.
We're on your side! We want you to succeed and want to get to know your voice, it's all right to be a little nervous.
Remember, everyone currently in the group had to audition too!
